Artist, muralist, photographer, author, and professor whose work pushes boundaries, provoke a second look and unsettles expectations. Raised across continents in a family of artists, Maryam's multicultural upbringing is the heartbeat of her artistry, fusing Afro-Caribbean vibrancy with European esthetics. Her work pulsates with bold colors, simple lines, intricate textures, 3D materials and thought-provoking imagery that challenges perceptions and invites audiences to embrace the beauty of diverse human conditions.
Maryam's artistic style is a blend of minimalistic lines, large-scale acrylic portraits, and striking elements such as gold, chains, spray paint, and epoxy. Each piece is a conversation, urging viewers to question what they truly know about different cultures, identities and human conditions. Her art serves as both a mirror and a window—reflecting lived experiences while offering glimpses into new perspectives.
In her exhibition history, Maryam has left her mark on important local platforms including the Riverside Artscape, Ontario Museum of History and Arts, Riverside Artwalk, the Riverside Arts Museum and Eastside Arthouse shows. Her murals exist on streets, community centers, and restaurants across Southern California's Inland Empire, transforming urban landscapes into vibrant storytelling canvases.
Beyond the gallery walls, Maryam is a social catalyst, using public art to inspire unity and empowerment (Cities worked with: Riverside, Moreno Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, Colton in California, Cercy - France). She believes in the transformative power of art to uplift cities, encourage youth, and foster cultural appreciation through art parties, classes, community projects and work with government and businesses. As the proud owner and founder of L'Expression Creative Studios, she has created a dynamic community hub where individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels can express their uniqueness and explore their creative potential.
Through programs such as corporate team building, paint parties, workshops, murals and cultural events, Maryam fosters an inclusive space for individuals of all backgrounds to explore their creativity and connect with others through artistic expression. Maryam integrates art therapy techniques into her workshops, creating meaningful and transformative experiences for participants utilizing art as a powerful tool for collaboration, stress relief, and personal growth. With a degree in psychology.

From her early days painting as a toddler to her current role as an artist and entrepreneur, Maryam's journey is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance. Her academic background, holding a Ph.D. in social sciences, enriches her practice, allowing her to merge artistic expression with deep cultural and psychological insights which she uses working with foster care and unhoused children, women and populations who benefit from therapeutic art practices.
